A Critical Decision Regarding Conversion: The Jerusalem Council — Acts 15
During the summer months, we are looking at several of the more than 30 “conversions” recorded in the book of Acts, which provided convincing proof as to the credibility of Christianity. Almost 3 decades after the church began, a critical issue arose in the church: Are Gentile Christians required to undergo circumcision in order to become a Christian? To answer the issue, the Jerusalem Council met in Acts 15 to address the question. That Council provides a fascinating window into the way in which disputes and doubtful matters were discussed and decided in the early church as well as gives a definitive answer to that problem.
