The Evangelist and the Eunuch–Acts 8:26-40
Doug Hornok   -

Just before our Lord ascended into the heavens, He gave a simple and direct order: “Go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit” (Matthew 28:19). What’s more, Jesus said we would be given the power to be His witnesses in Jerusalem, Judea, and Samaria, and to the ends of the earth (Acts 1:8). As the early Church began to scatter because of persecution they had great success as Jesus kept his word! One of the wonderful things about the passage before us is that we are given the ingredients for witnessing effectively as Dr. Luke records for us the wonderful encounter between Phillip and a man from Ethiopia. Luke’s record is the very first New Testament one-on-one example of someone leading another person to faith in Jesus Christ! A careful examination of this meeting reveals the elements needed for a winsome, effective, passionate testimony for Jesus Christ. Be sure to be with us next Sunday as we explore this portion of God’s Word.
