You asked for it Sermon Series - Week 1 What happens when a Christian dies?
What happens when a Christian dies? 2 Corinthians 5:1-10
This past week I was visiting with a friend who graduated from Dallas Seminary with me. We talked about some classmates who are no longer with us, but now “with the Lord.” It was a sober reminder to us both that death is rapidly approaching us all.
What’s more, the older I get, the faster death seems to be approaching. While death can be, and is, a blessing for the believer, there remains many mysteries related to it.
When a loved one dies, where exactly do they go and what are they experiencing? What are they now seeing and doing? Are they, as some suggest, “asleep”, unconscious, lifeless in the grave until the second coming of Christ?
The most explicit answer to this question, in all of Scripture, is found in 2 Corinthians 5:1-10. Next Sunday in our first message in our “You asked for it” series, we will answer this most import question: What happens when a Christian dies?
