Dear Precious Saints of MBC,
I trust you are doing well and looking forward to Sunday.
Earlier today another senseless school shooting took place. As of this writing, there are 10 people whose lives were taken in a horrible act of violence. A young 17 year old walked into his High School in Texas and opened fire. There is really no explanation for these events other than the sinful depravity of men's hearts. The solution to the ills of our world is only found in changing the hearts of people through the work of the gospel. In the meantime, here are 4 verses to cling to:
- John 16:33: "I have told you these things, so that in me you may have peace. In this world you will have trouble. But take heart! I have overcome the world."
- Psalm 34:18: "The Lord is close to the brokenhearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit."
- Romans 12:19: "Do not take revenge, my dear friends, but leave room for God's wrath, for it is written: 'It is mine to avenge; I will repay,' says the Lord."
- Psalm 11:5 "The Lord examines the righteous, but the wicked, those who love violence, he hates with a passion."
Take the time to read those verses slowly, reflectively, contemplatively. Spend some time alone with God and simply meditate on His word. Claim His promises and rest in His assurances. Additionally, join me in praying for these devastated families.
See you Sunday!
In the light of His glory and grace,
